The Princes Trust Charity Shoot 2011

£170,00 was raised at the 11th Annual Princes Trust Charity Shoot. 43 teams of 4 came along to Auchterhouse to shoot a 60 Sporting each, a Flush & The Planes. The weather was great which helped everyone enjoy the day. For the ladies there was a fashion show & hair show by McIntryes, they could also get their nails done by The Greenroom.

The entertainment for the day were The Overtones, the guys were amazing and even took part in the shooting, they were so chuffed when they got one of The Planes down! After the meal they sang for about 30 minutes, still can’t believe they were singing at Auchterhouse Country Sports.

We would like to thank everyone who helped on the day, too many to mention - but you know who you are.

CONGRATULATIONS IAIN MILLER

Iain shot his socks off at the DTL English Open at Southern Counties on 10th & 11th June.

He won A Class at the Dougall Memorial Shoot on the 10th

On the 11th he won A Class, he was Veteran High Gun, which made him Overall Veteran High Gun from the 2 days and to top it all off he was Overall High Gun over 2 days.

Well Done Iain, were all so proud of you at Auchterhouse

Ladies Day 2011

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came along & supported this year’s Ladies Day. 95 ladies came along to have a go at Clay Shooting & raise money for charity. The chosen charity was the Scottish SPCA. The total raised was £3260, this was more raised than the year before with less ladies. This makes the Grand Total from the past 8 years of Ladies Day to £14,550.

There was a raffle, silent & main auction with lots of lovely prizes to be won.

Angus Sports Awards - Well Done Drew & Sian

The Angus Sports Awards 2010 was held at the Reid Hall, Forfar on Tuesday 8th March 2011. There was 6 awards in total which included; Service to Sport, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Sports Personality of the Year for People with a Disability and Sports Personality of the Year.

Drew Christie had been put forward for the Sports Personality of the Year with Sian Bruce (17) being put forward for Young Sports Personality of the Year. We had a table of 10 who attended the awards dinner & enjoyed the evening. Even more so when the awards were announced. Young Sports Personality was up first, there was 18 in the category which was whittled down to 5, this included Footballers, Swimmers and Tennis players, but Sian took the award. We were so chuffed for her and brilliant for Clay Shooting as a Sport. Then it was onto the main award ‘Sports Personality of they Year’, there was only 5 in this category, the 5 sports were; Clay Shooting, Rugby Union, Modern Pentathlon, Cricket & Curling. This was then shortlisted to 3 which included Drew, we were amazed & thought that there was no way a shooter could win both of the awards, but to our amazement Drew’s name was announced as Sports Personality of the Year for Angus. The noise that came from our table was immense! We were so pleased, but unfortunately Drew was not there to collect the award as he was on his way back from a World Cup Shoot in Chile, so dad (Gavin) had to collect the award on his behalf.

This just goes to show that Clay Shooters are being recognised in the world of Sport, although be it a minority sport.

CONGRATULATIONS DREW!!

Drew made the Olympic Skeet Men’s Final at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi 2010. He came 4th and just missed out for the Bronze Medal by one target. To say it was a tense final to watch is an understatement!

The Shooting Industry Awards 2010

We recently put ourselves forward for The Shooting Industry Awards under the category ‘Best Shooting Ground’. We are pleased to say that we were shortlisted to the last four. Unfortunately we didn’t win, but according to the judges “the quality of entries in this category was both remarkable & impressive..... any one of the shortlisted grounds could’ve won it”. We were the only Scottish ground in the top 4, so we are very proud of this.
